There are three major parts to creating a test ticket:

  1. First, download the sample documents you will use for the test ticket.
  2. Then, step through the GetYourRefund process on the website which will create a ticket.
  3. Lastly, find that ticket in Zendesk and use it to practice the workflow in Zendesk.

The below test ticket corresponds to the IRS Publication 6744 – VITA/TCE Volunteer Assistor’s Test/Retest - Advanced Scenario 6. All of the documents and answers you will provide when creating the test ticket correspond to that scenario.

Part 1: Download the sample documents

To get started, download the ZIP file below which contains the image files you will need to create the test ticket. These sample files represent the tax documents and ID that a client would upload on the GetYourRefund website. They are all contained in this zip file, and are also included individually in the instructions below.

Part 2: Go through the GetYourRefund process on the website which will create a test ticket

  1. Navigate to demo.GetYourRefund.org using your site’s source URL (ask your site coordinator or VITA staff if you do not know it) - look for the red bar to confirm you're on the demo site. Please do not use the regular www.GetYourRefund.org site, or your test ticket will be sent to one of our current partners.
  2. Click “Get Started”
  3. Click “File taxes with help”
  4. Click “Continue”
  5. Click “No” when asked “Before we start, have you already filed for 2019?”
  6. Click “No” when asked “Are you trying to file for your stimulus?”
  7. Select “2019” and click “Continue” only when asked “What years do you need to file for?”
  8. Click “Continue” on the “Let’s get started” page
