An essential step toward partnership is to internally analyze your Brigade to identify your goals and gaps before reaching out to potential partners. Being honest about where you are and where you hope to be will go a long way to ensure you are partnering with an organization whose values align with yours.

  1. Which potential partners can we reach out to?

    Look for people, communities, organizations, etc,  who are already working on the same problems. Look for similarities in mission/vision statements, past projects, communities served, etc.

  2. What goals does this potential partner have? How do they complement ours?

    What is their mission? What are their challenges? Where are they focusing their efforts? In what areas are we aligned with this organization? What shared outcomes do you want to collectively achieve?

  3. What resources does this potential partner have? How do they complement ours?

    What expertise, skills,  relationships, practices, etc do they have? How can we utilize those assets to achieve our goals?
