Describe the Greeter Role

Greeters help clients get their tax returns Ready for Review and make the jobs of Intake Specialists, Tax Preparers, and Quality Reviewers easier by organizing materials. As a Greeter, you will help clients provide required identity and tax documents so a VITA Partner volunteer can prepare their tax return.

Clients sign up for GetYourRefund at GetYourRefund.org, where they'll answer a series of questions about their tax situation and are asked to upload tax documents and images of identity documents. When a client signs up for GetYourRefund, it creates a ticket in The Hub.

As a Greeter, you'll be focused on helping clients who have consented to be contacted but whose files are not yet Ready for Review by Intake Specialists and Tax Preparers.

Volunteer Standards of Conduct certification is required for this role. Intake/ Interview and Quality Review Certification is strongly recommended. As a practical matter, this Greeter training assumes you have completed it. Tax certification is not required.
