Initiating the Offboarding Process

1. Talk with your Brigade members and decide if you will be continuing with another fiscal sponsor, continuing as a nonprofit, or dissolving your Brigade.
   1. Some sections you may want to review together:
      1. Milestones and Key Dates
      2. Fiscal Sponsorship Guide
2. Review the Brigade Status Declaration Form and begin preparing your answers using this worksheet. The form will collect information that CfA needs to initiate the offboarding process for your Brigade.
3. Submit the Brigade Status Declaration Form by May 1, 2023.
   1. If you are moving to another fiscal sponsor, submit the form after you’ve been approved by your new organization.
   2. If you are forming a new nonprofit, submit the form after you’ve received your tax-exempt status from the IRS. Note: We know that establishing a nonprofit takes a long time. If you predict that you will not complete the process by May 1, 2023, reach out to the team at [email protected] asap.
   3. If you are currently on a Partner or Third-Party MOU with us, submit the form by May 1 or sooner to confirm what items, if any, need to be transferred to your organization.
   4. If you are dissolving your Brigade, submit the form once your Brigade has finalized its decision.

2. Mid-March 2023* - Brigades receive Notice of Termination Letter
